What is a virtual office, and when does it make sense? | YOUNG Workspaces

What is a virtual office, and when does it make sense?

A business address, mail handling and a place to receive parcels, without paying for a desk you would not use.

What you get

A virtual office is a registered business address at one of our buildings, with your post and parcels received, sorted and either held for you or forwarded. At YOUNG Workspaces it starts at €90 per month, and you can add workspace access when you need it.

It is the difference between putting your home address on your invoices, your website and the company register, and putting a proper commercial address there instead.

Who it actually suits

Founders working from home. Your address ends up on public registers. A lot of people would rather that not be their front door.

Companies entering a new country. If you are testing the Dutch or Spanish market before committing to staff and space, a virtual office gives you a local presence from month one without a lease.

Fully remote teams. Somebody still has to receive the hardware, the contracts and the tax letters. A virtual office gives that a home.

What it is not

It is not a desk. If you plan to work in the building regularly, a flex desk or a day pass is what you want, on top of or instead of the virtual office.

It also does not settle your tax or legal position on its own. Registering a company at an address has consequences that depend on your situation and your country, and that is a conversation for your accountant, not for us. What we can tell you is exactly what the address includes and how the post is handled.

Questions worth asking any provider

Can you register the company at the address, or is it only a mailing address? How quickly is post scanned or forwarded, and at what cost? Can you receive parcels and couriers? Can visitors be received, and by whom? Can you book a meeting room at that address when you need to meet someone in person?

At our locations the answer to the last one is yes, from €25 an hour, which is often the real reason people choose an address in a building with actual rooms in it.
